Step into the Past: Ludlow’s Medieval Living History Weekend

Watch Ludlow Castle travel back in time, as it transforms into a medieval mystic realm this August Bank Holiday weekend (23rd to 25th).

Across three days, the Ludlow Medieval Festival invites visitors of all ages to dive headfirst into the sights, sounds, and thrills of the Middle Ages. Enjoy battle re-enactments, living history displays, archery, and authentic armour demonstrations – bringing the past to life.

A Castle Full of Stories

Only seven miles from Orleton Rise Holiday Park, Ludlow Castle is one of the most stunning medieval ruins in England with an illustrious and influential history. With panoramic views across the Shropshire countryside and nestled in the heart of the lively market town, this is a day out you won’t forget.

Wander the grounds where kings, queens, and nobles once walked (including Mary, the infamous daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon), and feel the weight of centuries in the stone walls and hidden corners. From ancient great halls to crumbling towers, every inch of the castle tells a story.

History You Can Touch

This isn’t your typical history lesson. There are interactive displays, costumed characters, and the chance to get hands-on with medieval weaponry, armour, and crafts. The weekend promises fun and fascination in equal measure.

Kids (and grown-ups!) can even try their hand at archery or talk to reenactors about what life was really like in the 13th Century.
