An Evening of Music: Ludlow Choral Society at St Laurence’s

A magical evening of music is on the horizon, and it’s just a short hop from Orleton Rise Holiday Park. On 14th June at 7.30pm, the Ludlow Choral Society presents its summer concert, Songs of the Sea, at the stunning St Laurence’s Church – a beautiful venue steeped in history and charm, less than 20 minutes’ drive away.

Choral Waves and Classical Echoes

This isn’t your average night at the choir. Songs of the Sea offers a rich and varied programme of choral works inspired by the ocean, featuring pieces by McDowell, Parry, Ayres, Purcell, and of course, Edward Elgar.

The centrepiece is Elgar’s powerful Sea Pictures song cycle. With a twist. Instead of performing it straight through, the work will be woven throughout the evening, creating a unique musical journey that ebbs and flows like the tide.

Guided by the talented Nicola Starkie, the concert features mezzo-soprano Gabriella Llandu, whose voice will bring Elgar’s sea songs to life. And Marion Bettsworth on piano will provide beautiful accompaniment.
