A Classic Summer Celebration: Presteigne Carnival

Mark your calendars! The Presteigne Carnival is back on Saturday 12th July and is the perfect local event for all ages – just a scenic half-hour drive from Orleton Rise.

Historic Event

Held every year on the second Saturday of July, the Presteigne Carnival is a beloved community celebration, bursting with lively entertainment and traditional charm.

The main highlight of the day is the parade, which sets off at 12.30 pm, travelling through the High Street to the Carnival field (Went’s Meadow, LD8 2BW). And of course, no parade would be complete without the crowning of the Carnival Queen, a cherished ceremony that adds extra sparkle to the day.

Programme of Events

Back at the Carnival, the show runs from 1.15 pm to 10.30 pm.

Expect a fantastic lineup of circus and magic performances, as well as a strongman challenge. There’s also a dog show, face painting, inflatables, soft play, and plenty of competitions traditional of a country fair. Plus, there’s a raffle, local stalls, and a variety of food and drink vendors serving up sweet treats and savoury snacks.

Then, enjoy live music into the evening – from DJ Miles, The New Deadly, and Head Honcho.

Rain or Shine – Get Involved

Tickets are £7.50 for adults, with under-16s (and anyone wearing fancy dress) admitted free. And there’s on-field parking too

Proudly run by a dedicated team of volunteers and a local committee, this vibrant event has been a firm favourite for the Presteigne community for decades.
